Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
Welcome to Stylish Names ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit https://stylish-names.com, how it is used, and the choices you have. The site is operated by an independent developer — see our About page for who runs it.
2. Information We Collect
The name generator itself runs entirely in your browser: text entered in the generator is processed locally, and we have no user accounts. If you open or share a URL containing text in a query parameter (such as ?name=), that URL is sent to the web server and may appear in its logs. Avoid putting private information into shared URLs.
Like most websites, we and our third-party service providers do collect some information automatically:
- If you allow analytics: Google Analytics usage data, such as pages visited, device and browser type, and approximate location. Our page-view configuration omits query strings and fragments.
- Advertising is currently disabled (see section 5)
- Standard server logs (IP address, requested URL, user agent) used for security and troubleshooting
3. Local Storage
We use your browser's localStorage to remember your recently copied names, favorites, theme choice, and your cookie-consent decision. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
4. Cookies and Consent
Optional Google Analytics scripts load only after you choose "Allow analytics." Choosing "Essential only" keeps analytics disabled. You can reopen the controls using "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page and withdraw consent to stop future analytics collection. Previously stored cookies can be removed through your browser settings. Preferences and saved names continue to work without analytics.
5. Advertising (Google AdSense)
Ad serving is currently disabled. We retain Google AdSense ownership verification while the site is under review. If advertising is enabled later, this policy and the consent controls must be updated before ads are served. Google and its partners may then use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, or similar identifiers to deliver and measure ads. Personalized advertising can use visits to this and other websites. Advertising consent is separate from the optional analytics choice described above.
You can opt out of personalized advertising:
- Google Ads Settings: adssettings.google.com
- Industry opt-out: aboutads.info/choices
- How Google uses data from partner sites: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
6. Our Chrome Extension
We publish a Chrome extension, Stylish Names — Fancy Font & Text Generator. It is separate software from this website, and the advertising and analytics described in sections 2, 4 and 5 do not apply to it.
The extension:
- Collects no personal information and has no accounts
- Contains no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind
- Makes no network requests — every font conversion runs offline on your device
- Never transmits, sells or shares the text you type or select
It stores two things using Chrome's extension storage: the styles you mark as favourites, and the last text you typed, so the popup reopens where you left off. If you have Chrome Sync enabled, Chrome may sync your favourites across your own devices through your Google account — this data never reaches us. Removing the extension deletes all of it.
The extension requests the activeTab and scripting permissions for one purpose: when you select text and choose a style from the right-click menu, it writes the styled text back into that page. It does not read page content, browsing history, or any site you have not explicitly invoked it on. It requests no access to websites in general.
7. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and the right to withdraw consent at any time (use the consent banner or clear your browser data, and contact us for anything else).
If you are a California resident, the CCPA/CPRA gives you the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" for cross-context advertising. We do not sell personal information for money; advertising is currently disabled. The optional analytics choice does not authorize personalized advertising.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected].
8. Third-Party Links
Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
9. Children's Privacy
Our services are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal data through our site, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
