The dot itself

The character being inserted is U+00B7, the middle dot from the Latin-1 Supplement block — a character old enough to predate the web, and one that Catalan spells everyday words with (col·lecció). That pedigree matters: where exotic symbols can fall back to tofu boxes on older systems, the interpunct renders correctly on practically anything with a screen. Your letters also stay ordinary letters; only dots are added between them, which keeps dotted text far more legible than styles that swap the whole alphabet out.

Budget your characters

Every letter becomes two characters — letter plus dot — so length roughly doubles, and the tool places a dot after the final letter as well. A 16-letter phrase lands at exactly 32 characters, which is Discord's display-name cap and beyond what several other name fields allow. Two practical habits: keep dot-joined text to a word or two, and delete the trailing dot after pasting if you prefer a clean ending.
