Style ร Platform Compatibility Reference
Styled names fail in two different ways: either the platform rejects the characters outright, or it accepts them and the reader's phone draws empty boxes instead of letters. This reference separates the two. It maps twelve widely copied style families โ from cursive script to zalgo โ against seven platforms where people actually paste them, based on the Unicode blocks each family is built from and each platform's published name rules.
Read it before you spend a rename card. A โ means the characters normally survive and display; โ ๏ธ means the outcome depends on the field, the device, or the OS version; โ means the platform usually filters or refuses them. For a check on your own screen, run your name through the live preview tool first.
Legend: โ generally renders ยท โ ๏ธ partial or inconsistent ยท โ often filtered or rejected. The Instagram and Discord columns describe display names and bios โ @handles on both platforms are ASCII-only, so no styled text survives there regardless of family. The same word, Shadow, is used for every example so you can compare shapes directly.

- Roblox is โ across the board by rule, not by font: usernames and display names accept only ASCII letters, digits, and at most one underscore, and chat filters styled Unicode too. See the Roblox page for what does work.
- Squared letters are a trap: ๐ ฐ, ๐ ฑ, ๐ พ, and ๐ ฟ carry emoji presentation on most phones, so a squared name shows a jarring mix of red emoji blocks and plain symbols โ and game name filters typically treat them as emoji and refuse the whole name.
- Zalgo is ordinary letters plus stacked combining marks. Chat apps render the marks but clip tall stacks against the line height; game clients tend to strip them or garble spacing. There's a dedicated zalgo tool if you want it for chat messages rather than names.
- Superscript has gaps in Unicode itself โ there is no superscript q, so that letter stays plain in any tiny-text name.
- Fortnite (Epic) accepts a narrow set of characters. Katakana marks like ใ and ใท famously pass; letters from the mathematical alphabets generally do not, which is why the sweaty-symbol look dominates there.
Documented name-length limits
Length caps matter as much as rendering โ a decorated name like ๊งเผ๐พ๐๐๐๐๐เผ๊ง is 14 characters before you count the brackets. Documented limits for the platforms in the matrix:
- Instagram โ username max 30 characters, ASCII only (letters, numbers, periods, underscores); the name field and the 150-character bio both accept styled Unicode.
- WhatsApp โ profile name up to 25 characters, About line up to 139; both fields accept Unicode and emoji freely.
- Discord โ unique username 2โ32 characters, lowercase ASCII only; display names and per-server nicknames go up to 32 characters and take nearly any Unicode.
- Free Fire โ nickname of about 20 characters; unusually permissive about ornaments (๊ง, เผ, โฌ are staples), but changing it costs a name change card or diamonds, so preview first. Styles that fit are on the Free Fire page.
- PUBG Mobile / BGMI โ hard 14-character cap, Unicode accepted; renames after the first require a rename card. The PUBG and BGMI pages keep to that budget.
- Roblox โ username and display name both 3โ20 characters, ASCII letters and digits with at most one underscore; no Unicode field exists.
- Fortnite (Epic) โ display name 3โ16 characters from a restricted set, changeable once every two weeks.
How this reference is made
This matrix is not the output of a device lab, and no cell claims a tested app version. Each rating is derived from two sources: the Unicode blocks a style family draws on โ the same character maps that power the generators on this site โ and each platform's published name rules plus long-standing community reports. Knowing the block tells you most of the story: cursive, bold, fraktur, double-struck, and monospace all live in the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block, which name filters tend to treat alike; small caps come from phonetic extensions; zalgo is plain letters carrying stacked combining marks, which game clients strip.
Rendering still varies for three reasons. Font coverage differs by OS and version, so older or budget devices show boxes where newer ones show letters. Apps whitelist characters per field โ a bio and a username on the same platform rarely share rules. And some systems normalize submitted text (NFKC), silently folding fullwidth and mathematical letters back to plain ASCII.
Platforms revise these rules quietly. If a cell no longer matches what you see, report it through the contact page โ corrections keep this table honest.
