Line Font Generator

Most apps technically have text formatting — just never the underline, and never where you want it. Discord underlines with double underscores, but only inside messages; server nicknames ignore markdown completely. WhatsApp offers bold, italic, and strikethrough shortcuts and skipped underline entirely. Instagram and TikTok offer no formatting controls at all. So if you want an underlined display name or bio line, the line has to live inside the characters themselves.

The character that carries the line

That is what this tool does, using U+0332, the combining low line from Unicode's combining diacritical marks block — a mark that draws a short rule beneath whatever character it follows. Insert one after every letter and n̲a̲m̲e̲ stays underlined wherever the string goes, into a Discord nickname, a WhatsApp status, or an Instagram bio, because the underline is part of the text rather than a formatting layer the app can strip. Typical results: l̲i̲n̲k̲ i̲n̲ b̲i̲o̲, s̲o̲l̲d̲ o̲u̲t̲, N̲o̲v̲a̲. Digits take the mark too, so 2̲0̲2̲6̲ works for underlined years.

Quirks you should expect

• The mark rides on letters and digits, not spaces, so multi-word phrases show a small gap under each space.
• Each character carries its own line segment. Many fonts fuse the segments into one continuous rule; others leave faint joints visible.
• Descenders — the tails on g, j, p, q, and y — reach into the space where the low line sits, so those letters can touch or cross the underline in some fonts.
• @handle fields reject combining marks; display names, nicknames, bios, and statuses accept them.
